Something Within
Something within so deep,
In a universe so vast,
Identity undefined,
Yet paradise we seek at last.
We search for meaning still,
In the only world we know,
While stars above remind us
Of worlds where we could go.
The truth is what we’ve seen,
Yet what we’ve seen is small.
Is heaven a destination,
Or a doorway through it all?
Depression, anxiety;
In a world where all play God.
Like oceans with no ending,
We drift, unsure, abroad.
We fear death;
The side we’ve never known,
Which no traveler has returned,
From the place where they have flown.
Life unfolds in stages,
Seeking eyes to prove our worth,
As we trade away ourselves
For acceptance that leaves us empty.
